Hunger - a performative photo collage - draws attention to the visual culture that surrounds and manipulates us. The photographs used in the work illustrate both excess and lack. Fulfillment and satisfaction come not from quantity, but from quality. No amount of abundance can compensate for the absence of quality. Ignoring this truth—one we all understand—leads to disastrous consequences for both us and the planet. Will we soon destroy our biosphere and be left with only images of full plates and tables in photographs? No animals or plants were harmed in the creation of Hunger, and no new waste was generated. The "meals" were cut from books found at a waste disposal site, many of which were still factory-sealed. These were cookbooks given by a retail chain as rewards for large purchases.
