Following in Duchamp's (conceptual) footsteps, I arrive at a waste collection point and decide to conduct an artistic and social experiment, much like Duchamp did himself. Several dozen garbage containers are filled with the contents of arriving trailers, and the waste inside forms temporary, random compositions—visually interesting, surprising, colorful, or just plain ugly. So, I take photos and create art. The next step is to give it a name and place it in a gallery, fulfilling Duchamp's definition of a work of art. I feel compelled to do this, especially since I answer the questions of eco-port users and staff with a firm statement: 'I am an artist, and your garbage will be hanging in a gallery.' Some are already anticipating the big exhibition; the more skeptical ones still have doubts. But I sense that through my presence at the eco-port, I am already changing the world of art—just like Duchamp.
